Luca Pietro Beuthan

ルカ・ピエトロ・ボイサン

Film Director

L.P. Beuthan, born to an Italian mother and German father, grew up across Europe before beginning his career in film as a camera assistant after high school. At 21, he moved to Tokyo, balancing on-set work with studying Japanese while independently writing and directing his own short film.
Since his debut short Umbra (2020), he has expanded his work across films, music videos, and commercials — drawing equally from European sensibilities and Japanese influences. His directing style blends documentary-like realism with emotional depth, with a particular strength in portraying human conflict set against extraordinary worlds.
His latest feature Ibasho is a coming-of-age story set against a zombie apocalypse — one that quietly subverts genre expectations by stripping away violence and centering instead on loss, identity, and the search for belonging.
